But for those who were on Guam when a Korean Air 747 crashed into the low green mountains of Southern Guam killing 228, the fatal disaster is as vivid and horrible as if it were yesterday. Now that a Yemenia Airbus has crashed into the Indian Ocean off the Comoros Islands with 153 people on board and early reports of a sole survivor, the Associated Press has included the Korean Air Flight 801 Guam crash on a just-published list of 19 "deadliest air disasters". Meanwhile, as the Yemenia disaster marks the fifth fatal passenger airline accident of 2009 worldwide, the Wall Street Journal is asking "Is the Accident Rate Up This Year for Airlines?".
