By Jeff Marchesseault GUAM - U.S. Coast Guard Captain Luann Barndt has departed Guam for a new assignment in a colder climate -- and more stripes! An active SCUBA diver who says she'll miss Guam's warm weather, Barndt moves up the ranks from her stint as deputy commander on Guam to her new role as Commander of the Milwaukee-based Coast Guard Sector Lake Michigan. That according to the Journal Sentinel, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Journal Sentinel reports that Barndt is the first female to command the Coast Guard's Lake Michigan sector, the largest of 35 Coast Guard sectors in the number of field units. The 22 field units include 19 multi-mission stations, a marine safety unit, marine safety detachment, and a sector field office.
