![]() By Jac Perry GUAM - Port authority of Guam employees are on their way to receiving salaries close to the national average thanks to a bill signed Thursday by Acting Governor Michael W. Cruz. Cruz signed Bill No. 142 which authorized the implementation of a pay study that showed that Port employees need salary adjustments in line with salaries at ports across the nation. "This is a good day for the Port and our people," Port General Manager Glenn A. Leon Guererro said at Thursday's bill signing ceremony. The bill was authored by Senator Tom Ada. Senator Frank Blas Jr., later added an amendment to include all port employees in the study. Employees attended session Thursday morning anxiously awaiting the outcome of the vote on the bill. The implementation of the pay study will not come from the General Fund as the Port is an autonomous agency and generates its own revenues.
