GUAM - Live-fire training exercises will resume early next week at the Northern Mariana Island of Farallon de Medinilla. For the safety and convenience of anyone who plans to be in the area, Guam News Factor provides this update from the Joint Region Marianas Public Affairs Office:

Navy, Air Force To Conduct Live-Fire And Laser Training Exercises On Farallon De Medinilla.

Santa Rita, Guam (Oct. 23, 2009) - The U.S. Navy and Air Force will conduct live-fire and laser training exercises on the island of Farallon de Medinilla from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Oct. 27-28.

The general location of this activity will be on the island of Farallon de Medinilla Training Area on a 10 nautical mile radius on all quadrants. The general public especially fishermen, commercial pilots and marine tour operators are advised to stay clear from this area during the times and dates indicated.

Farallon de Medinilla plays a special and unique role in national defense because its location provides access frequency that supports established training requirements. In addition, the air and sea space in the Farallon provides sufficient room for the many different attack profiles necessary to replicate training opportunities in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
