By Michael Rudolph GUAM - Guam Senator Frank Aguon, Jr. and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton both share a common interest: humanitarian relief for Filipinos whose lives have been turned upside down by the recent typhoons. A November 10th news conference in Washington, D.C. will brief the media on U.S. humanitarian relief to the Philippines and on Secretary Clinton's upcoming official visit to the Philippine Republic from November 12-13th. Senator Aguon, who has invited Clinton to visit Guam to discuss military buildup issues on her return trip, is still raising funds and welcoming relief supplies for typhoon recovery efforts in the Philippines. Aguon and others in his relief network are accepting canned goods, non-perishable items, and monetary donations for drop-off at the following locations: -Office of Senator Frank B. Aguon, Jr., Suite 701A DNA Building, Hagatna, Guam; -Residence of Carl T.C. Gutierrez, Agana Heights; and -Mayor's Offices in Yigo, Agat, Yona and Dededo. Hillary Clinton last visited Guam in 1995 in her capacity, then, as U.S. First Lady. Nowadays, the $15 billion military buildup on Guam is a front-burner agenda for both the White House and State Department. Jeff Marchesseault contributed to this story.
