GUdTV

By Jeff Marchesseault

GUAM - GTA Teleguam is introducing a major upgrade to its relatively recent home television product, GUdTV (Guam Digital Television), to deliver what the streaming video industry calls a high Quality of Experience (QoE).

According to a news release posted by the IP video solutions provider Mariner at MarketWire.com, the improvements to GuDT'vs Internet Protocol-driven content delivery system will be substantial:

The result is the ability for a service provider to gain measured insight and troubleshooting control into network and home related issues as well as speed response to service-quality issues.

"This allows us to identify, diagnose and correct problems quickly -- often before the customer is even aware there is an issue," said GTA Teleguam CEO Dan Moffat to Mariner's public affairs division. "Proactive identification and correction of issues before they become customer-affecting is key to keeping customer satisfaction high and resulting churn low."

Mariner and Cisco Deliver Complete IPTV Service Monitoring To GTA Teleguam

Deployment Capitalizes On Integration Of Cisco's VQE Platform With Mariner's xVu Suite Of Service Assurance Solutions

ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwire - November 10, 2009) - TelcoTV09 Conference and Expo -- Mariner, a leading provider of innovative IP video solutions and applications, today announced that GTA Teleguam will be deploying its xVu service monitoring solution integrated within Cisco's Visual Quality of Experience (VQE) platform. This deployment represents the first joint customer launch of the integrated platform following the partnership announcement made by Mariner in early September at IBC 2009.

GTA Teleguam, Guam's leading full-service communications provider, is utilizing the integrated VQE platform to ensure high quality of experience (QoE) for users of their Guam Digital TV (GUdTV) offering. The joint solution provides GTA Teleguam with an industry leading, cost effective IPTV service assurance system that will improve end user QoE and reduce costly truck rolls and customer churn.

Key Facts

GTA Teleguam required a complete, integrated service assurance solution that would boost customer satisfaction for its GUdTV offering. The combined Cisco/Mariner solution provides GTA Teleguam network operations, field technicians and senior management with end-to-end insight into their digital TV service.

This launch represents the first deployment of the xVu suite of network monitoring solutions in the Pacific Region. Mariner is well-established in North America with several current installations in Canada and the continental U.S. The company also launched into the European market in March 2009.

The incorporation of Mariner's xVu tools with Cisco's VQE technology is the result of a year long collaboration, in which a thoroughly integrated version of xVu was developed. The result is the ability for a service provider to gain measured insight and troubleshooting control into network and home related issues as well as speed response to service-quality issues.

Mariner will be participating in Cisco's TelcoTV Workshop, taking place today at the Orange County Convention Center from 9am to 12pm. The workshop will consist, in part, of a live demonstration of the xVu suite of real-time monitoring toolsets and feature telcos describing their experiences with Cisco's IPTV solution.

This allows us to identify, diagnose and correct problems quickly -- often before the customer is even aware there is an issue.
