Deadly Storms Ravage Southeast and Ohio Valley
A series of deadly storms have wreaked havoc in parts of the Southeast and Ohio Valley, with flash flood emergencies declared in the Tallahassee, Florida area. Major flash flooding has occurred, prompting rescues and warnings for residents to move to higher ground.
At least four tornadoes have been reported in Louisiana and Texas, with one person confirmed dead in central Mississippi. Severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and drenching rain are expected to continue from Florida to South Carolina, causing power outages and damage in the Gulf Coast region.
The Ohio Valley is at risk for severe storms, including potential tornadoes and hail, with over 260,000 people currently without power from Texas to Georgia. Swaths of homes and businesses have been damaged by the storms, with residents in northern New England advised to prepare for flooding.
In Louisiana and Texas, storms have caused injuries and damage, while homes and businesses have been damaged or destroyed in Mississippi. The city of New Orleans has been overwhelmed by rainfall, flooding streets and breaking daily rainfall records across the South.
