Headline: United States Provides Ukraine with Seized Iranian Ammunition in Effort to Boost Defense Against Authoritarian Regimes

The department, under the leadership of Attorney General Merrick Garland, stated that providing Ukraine with the confiscated Iranian ammunition would aid the country in its struggle against another authoritarian regime.

The seized Iranian ammunition, totaling 1.1 million rounds, was taken from a stateless dhow called Marwan1 on December 9, 2022. The ammunition, sent by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, was intended for Houthi allies in the ongoing Yemeni civil war.

Adm Rob Bauer, the Dutch Chair of the NATO military committee, expressed these concerns during a conference in Warsaw.
