The Blackhawks Secure No. 2 Pick in NHL Draft Lottery
In an exciting turn of events, the Chicago Blackhawks secured the No. 2 pick in the NHL draft lottery, exceeding their 14.1% odds. General manager Kyle Davidson expressed his happiness over the outcome, considering it a big win for the team.
The San Jose Sharks claimed the No. 1 overall pick, granting them the chance to choose top prospect Macklin Celebrini. Following the Sharks, the Anaheim Ducks, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Montreal Canadiens received the No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 picks, respectively.
The Blackhawks managed to avoid dropping to the No. 3 or No. 4 selection, becoming the first team with consecutive top-two picks since 2019. Prospects Artyom Levshunov and Ivan Demidov are top contenders for the No. 2 pick, with the team having time to make a decision before the draft in June. American wing Cole Eiserman, Canadian center Cayden Lindstrom, and others are also considered potential top-five picks.
Davidson noted that choosing Celebrini as the No. 1 pick gives the Blackhawks control over how the rest of the first round plays out. In addition to their two top picks, the team also received the No. 20 overall pick from the Tampa Bay Lightning and holds a total of nine picks for the draft.
With the NHL draft quickly approaching, the Blackhawks are gearing up for one of the most important events of the year. Fans are eagerly anticipating the decisions that will be made as the team looks to build a successful future.
