Airbnb announced the launch of a new program called Icons, offering users the chance to stay in iconic properties, both real and fictional. One of the highlights of the program is the recreation of the X-Men mansion from the Marvel Animation series X-Men ’97. The mansion will be transformed into the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning, featuring hand-painted interiors to give guests a two-dimensional experience.
In addition to the X-Men mansion, Icons will also include other famous properties such as Carl’s house from the Pixar film Up. Guests staying in these properties will have the opportunity to take part in exclusive experiences, like a tour hosted by actors portraying X-Men characters or a lap around a track with a professional driver at the Ferrari Museum in Italy.
The program will launch with 11 Icons, with plans to introduce new experiences throughout the year. These experiences will be priced at under $100 per person, per night, with some being free and first-come, first-serve. Future Icon experiences in the works include the house from Up in New Mexico and a recreation of the Control Room from Inside Out.
Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky believes the Icons program will bring a sense of magic to the world, providing unique access to iconic locations and experiences. The program aims to give guests the opportunity to immerse themselves in the worlds of their favorite films and TV shows, creating unforgettable memories for all who participate.
