A shocking new documentary series titled “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV” has uncovered disturbing revelations about the support received by convicted child sexual abuser Brian Peck in 2004. The Investigation Discovery program features former “Drake & Josh” star Drake Bell coming forward for the first time as the victim of Peck’s abuse when he was just 15 years old.
Before Peck was sentenced to 16 months in jail and as a registered sex offender, a total of 41 letters of support were written on his behalf by prominent Hollywood actors including James Marsden and Taran Killam. However, some of these actors, such as Will Friedle and Rider Strong, have since expressed regret for backing Peck without knowing the full extent of his crimes.
One notable supporter, Joanna Kerns, admitted that her support for Peck was based on misinformation and that she would not have written the letter if she had known the facts. The documentary also showcases Bell’s shock at the level of support Peck received during his sentencing, with several recognizable faces from the industry standing by his side.
In response to these disturbing revelations, Nickelodeon expressed sadness and dismay over Bell’s disclosures and praised his courage in speaking out. This news comes in the wake of controversy surrounding Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, who faced backlash for writing character letters in support of their former co-star Danny Masterson, convicted of rape.
“Quiet on Set” is set to air on ID over two nights, starting on March 17th at 9 p.m. ET. This eye-opening series shines a light on the dark side of the entertainment industry and the consequences of turning a blind eye to abuse.
